Invisalign Q&A

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a non-invasive orthodontics treatment that uses clear aligners to straighten crooked or misaligned teeth without the hassle of metal brackets or wires. Because the aligners are clear, most people won’t notice you’re wearing them.

You can achieve the smile of your dreams quickly and easily when choosing Invisalign clear aligners.

What are the benefits of Invisalign?

Some of the many benefits you can experience with non-invasive Invisalign include:

  • Straighter teeth
  • An aesthetically pleasing smile
  • Personalized treatment plans
  • Invisible aligners
  • Easy teeth and aligner cleaning
  • No metal brackets or wires
  • Removable aligners
  • No goopy impressions

Having straighter teeth helps you achieve the beautiful smile you long for and gain the confidence you deserve.

Is Invisalign right for me?

To find out if you’re a good candidate for Invisalign, Dr. Abtahi and her team review your oral health history, examine your teeth and gums, and discuss your desired outcome. They might take dental X-rays to develop a customized treatment that best meets your needs.

In addition to Invisalign, the practice also offers SureSmile® aligners.

What can I expect during Invisalign treatment?

During your first appointment with Your Community Smile, Dr. Abtahi and her team use the iTero 5D Element to scan your teeth and create custom-fit aligners that fit comfortably over your upper and lower teeth. When your new aligners are ready to wear, keep them in your mouth for 20-22 hours a day.

Take the aligners out to brush your teeth or eat, and switch to the next set of aligners in your series as instructed by Dr. Abtahi, which is usually after about two weeks. Your Community Smile staff can give you another set of aligners every six weeks until you complete treatment. The average treatment time for Invisalign is 12-18 months long.

How should I care for my aligners?

Keep your aligners clean between uses by brushing them with toothpaste and a toothbrush or using the Invisalign cleaning system. Rinse your aligners with warm water, but avoid hot water. Brush your teeth after meals and snacks, and call Your Community Smile if your aligners get damaged or lost.

When you’re ready for straighter teeth and a gorgeous smile without the hassle of brackets and wires, schedule an appointment with Your Community Smile by phone or book online today to find out if Invisalign is right for you.
